Environmental Assessment course
To assist our students with finding and maintaining full time careeer employment in the environmental industry we have designed this new course for those considering jobs in the environmental consulting field. Specifically, students that enroll in this certification course along with Ecological Land Classification (ELC), Ontario Wetland studies (includes an Ontario Wetland Evaluation Systems component) + GIS certification will be selected for upcoming contracts, internships and job opportunities in western Canada and Ontario. These opportunities will become available by April or May, 2012, but you must be a student enrolled in the 6 month, 9 or 12 month international FBT Program winter or spring semester to apply or become eligible. Grants and student loans are available for those serious about enrollment to help offset the cost of tuition. Please inquire to see if you meet the eligibility requirements. Environmental & field certification courses
GIS certification course
Environmental consulting for the professional - $800.00 CAD
This course focuses on the principles and concepts of the environmental consulting industry from starting field projects to final preparation and recommendations for project completion. Professionals and others interested in this fast paced field are encouraged to take this course!
Unit #1: Pre-site development and research, environmental laws, policies and regulations
A look at all steps involved with designing, constructing and implementation of field projects for terrestrial and/or aquatic/wetland sites.
Unit #2: Field project implementation
We will learn how to identify the most important aspects of field project implementation in terms of expected results verses actual results. Construct of field crew schedules, environmental monitoring, etc.
Unit #3: Data collection and incorporation
An examination of some of the methods which may be utilized to create accurate and well presented field surveys, site remediation and environmental compliance assessments and reports.
Unit #4: Reporting and follow up
Once the field work has been completed and all results have been analyzed steps and procedures for how best to report findings are discussed.
The next course is scheduled to start with the Environmental Assessment course in July, 2015. The course is 3 days in length.
